The region around Garmisch-Partenkirchen seems to have a magic pull on artists. With its splendid mountains and beautiful lakes, forests and meadows, the popular holiday resort is a creative hotbed for actors and artists.
Whether it’s at “Music in the Park”, the Richard Strauss Festival or one of the many theatre performances of Garmisch-Partenkirchen – dive right into the cultural scene of the Bavarian health resort, no matter the season!
When early summer rounds the corner, it’s time for the internationally renowned Richard-Strauss-Festival. Every year, famous artists, theatre companies and orchestras bring exquisite, artistic and poetic highlights to the adopted hometown of the festival’s namesake, prompting music lovers from all over the world to flock to the mountains of Bavaria.
Attention to detail, lots of passion and a medical dose of humour – these are the ingredients that make the performances of the ”Kleines Theater” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen so popular. Since Fritz Rohrbeck founded the health resort’s theatre back in 1949, it has staged countless classics and comedies. Look forward to some fine entertainment!
"Kulturbeutel", STAGE U1
Colourful, cheeky and without limits – Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s cabaret stage is all of this and more! Since 1986, cabaret artists and comedians like Michael Mittermeier or Dieter Nuhr have performed at the “Kulturbeutel” and made the crowd laugh out loud in the theatre’s unusually intimate atmosphere. Your go-to place for high-class comedy!
Partenkirchen'S Peasant Theatre
Have you ever heard of classic comedies such as “Der Dorfpfarrer“ (“The Village Priest”) or “Die pfiffige Urschl“ (“The Cunning Urschl”)? No? Then it’s about time to catch one of the legendary performances that have been staged at the “Partenkirchener Bauerntheater” (“Partenkirchen Peasant Theater”) for more than 115 years! The amateur actors’ unrivalled charm will have you laughing out loud at this authentic, traditional and typically Bavarian venue!
A real highlight: Watch the local Schuhplattler dancers show off their skills before the performance and enjoy traditional guitar and “Ziach” (accordion) music during the break. A must-see not only for the locals!
Sassy and vibrant: The popular Creme Frech drama group consists of actors of all professions and ages and has been bringing tons of fun to the mountain region since 1994. Let yourself be carried away by great performances like the annual Christmas fairy tale, the Murder Mystery Dinner or the elaborate open-air plays. Give it up for one of the favourites of Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s cultural scene!
