A challenge for individualists

Slowly climb the mountain with your skis. Step by step. The ascent is exhausting but you enjoy every moment of it all. You are also looking forward to the one thing that makes you go on: skiing downhill into the valley. The calm and quiet are marvellous, in which you can hear nothing but the snow crunching under your feet and your own breathing. Only a few more metres to go and you have made it. On the summit, your efforts will be rewarded with the great view over Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Backcountry skiing certainly is a unique experience. Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers the perfect conditions for this new sport trend, which is fascinating increasingly more skiers. Mount Wank, for example, offers the perfect conditions; for in the winter, the mountain with its panoramic view belongs in whole to the traditional backcountry skiers. Here, skiers can enjoy nature without any bustle - and, of course, an unforgettable downhill run into the valley.

Skiing tours are also possible at Mount Hausberg and Eckbauer. Then, the tireless conquer the Slopes – while most other people will already be relaxing in front of the fireplace. There is no question about it: Backcountry skiing is something for genuine individualists!
