All roads lead to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Well, perhaps not all roads, but surprisingly many. Thanks to the excellent accessibility via motorway, several nearby airports and rather good railway connections, even the journey on the way to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is pleasant and stress-free.

Arrival by airplane
If you prefer to go by plane, the airports of München (Munich), Stuttgart, Augsburg, Innsbruck and Zürich (Zurich) will be your destinations. Local agencies (car rental, bus companies, and travel agencies) will be happy to organise your journey from the airport.Did you know? The distance from Munich Airport "Franz-Josef Strauss" to Garmisch-Partenkirchen is merely 120 km (journey time approx. 1.5 hours), and the Innsbruck Airport is even closer: 60 km (journey time approx. 1 hour).
Arrival by railway
The Deutsche Bahn (German Federal Railway) offers attractive, fast and environmentally-friendly connections. There is a non-stop ICE (Intercity-Express) connection from Hamburg, Berlin, Lübeck as well as Dortmund-Ruhrgebiet-Köln to Garmisch-Partenkirchen available each Saturday. Additionally, there is an hourly connection from München (Munich) to Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Regionalbahn (local passenger train)).If you do not want to leave your car at home, you might use the AutoZug (motorail train). There are connections available, for example, from Hamburg, Hildesheim, Berlin and Düsseldorf to München (Munich).
